Statement of Need:
Total Joint Arthroplasty has made significant changes through the years. It is constantly evolving and physicians are always looking to provide better standards of care to all their patients. New surgical interventions and approaches have improved functional mobility to their patients and increased quality of life to patients into their 80s and 90s. This Joint Arthroplasty symposium looks to discuss the various reasons for surgical interventions. It will also discuss differnt approaches at the hip. This symposium will finally discuss total joint arthroplasty in the young and active patient The symposium will also tackle the issue knee instability and stiffness following a total joint arthroplasty. The symposium will be beneficial for physicians and rehabilitation specialists wishing to improve their knowledge and competence in the care of patients following a total joint arthroplasty. It will provide current information on various operative techniques of total joint arthroplasty and an understanding on the various advantages and disadvantages of a anterior and posterior approach.
